AYTA AL JABAL, Lebanon — They are everywhere, and they are nowhere.
They may be the well-dressed men squeezed into a passing Mercedes, or the smooth-shaven boys on Yamaha motorcycles. Perhaps they are the doctors in the white stucco medical clinic in the next village.
The Islamic guerrillas waging a deadly war of attrition against Israel in southern Lebanon do not advertise their presence. Instead, they are thoroughly integrated and assimilated into mountain villages. That makes it maddeningly difficult for Israel to root them out or to prevent them from firing rockets into northern Israel.
As more and more Israeli soldiers die at the hands of Hezbollah guerrillas, the debate over Israel’s role in southern Lebanon has intensified. Senior Israeli political figures, including Ariel Sharon, the architect of its Lebanon policy in the early 1980s, have called for reconsidering the occupation of South Lebanon.
“Our own mini-Vietnam,” Israel’s leading newspaper, Haaretz, called the Lebanon situation in a hard-hitting editorial last week that ridiculed the army for recent disasters, including a failed commando raid Sept. 5 in which 12 Israelis died in an ambush along the Lebanon coast. Israel now finds itself negotiating with Hezbollah for the return of the commandos’ remains.
Two Israel soldiers were killed yesterday by a roadside bomb in southern Lebanon. The deaths brought to 33 the number of Israeli soldiers killed in Lebanon this year.
“The myth of the [ Israeli army ] being the ultimate combination between Einstein’s brain and Samson’s brawn is no more. . . . Suddenly we discovered that the legend of Jewish genius sometimes stops at the gates of an army base,” the Haaretz editorial said.

Memang gw akuin gw enjoy banged di Linux tapi konsistensi-things ini menyebalkan sekali…ngingetin gw the good old days sama BeOS -the most efficient OS so far- semua serba konsiten, slick, cepat, it handles multitasking and multiprocessor very well…..uh i just love it

Met Lebaran Smuaaa
The single user-only BeOS 5.0 system shines bright even in comparison to a desktop LINUX system; brighter in many ways, in fact. Driving BeOS is a thoroughly modern, multithreaded, protected memory, preemptive multitasking, 64-bit OS with a new kernel design. In contrast, LINUX is bound to its decades old UNIX past. If LINUX is an 18-wheel semi capable of pulling multi-ton loads cross-country, then BeOS is a slick Porsche 911 Turbo that effortlessly zips past this tandem trailer code truck without even changing gears. The BeOS desktop user interface is also light years ahead of the standard PC LINUX offering in terms of ease of use.
Mendingan gw ngedownload………………..

After finally being called to emergency reserve duty two weeks ago and much indecision on the part of the officers of how we would be utilized in the raging conflict, my unit was assigned a complicated mission. We were to penetrate some ten kilometers into Lebanon and root out and engage Hezbollah guerrillas that were concentrated in bunkers on a mountain slope facing northern Israel. Intelligence and aerial photographs described a site that was heavily fortified and defended by several cells of well-trained and equipped jihadists. Despite a sustained aerial bombardment by the air force, Katyusha rockets continued to be launched from the area into Haifa, Nahariya, Tzfat.
The decision was made that the launchers could only be destroyed and the guerrillas eliminated by ground troops. The problematic nature of the action foreboded heavy casualties on our side. It’s like trying to pull a rattlesnake out of its hole without getting bitten. Mine is a demolition unit, so the mission fell on us. I was honored to be the gunner that would be on the point team.
After three days of training, we crossed the border into Lebanon on foot, a week ago Monday, and marched through the night, pushing deeper and deeper into Hezbollah’s backyard. At dawn, after the first long night’s march, we rushed the small village of Quzah in a hail of gunfireand grenades and blew down doors and commandeered homes where we waited out the day. Our orders were to only move at night.
We tried to rest inside the home as best we could, considering the intensity of the fighting all around us. Heavy artillery being fired from the Israel side of the border rained down around the blocky outcropping of hilltop villas. Knowing we were in the area but unsure of our precise whereabouts, Hezbollah operatives in the hills surrounding us launched missiles and mortars shells randomly into the homes in the village. Automatic gunfire was everywhere and we had no way of knowing if it was theirs or ours.

Renegade Sniper Taking Aim at U.S. Troops and Boasting Online
http://www.abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=1604797
Feb. 10, 2006 — An insurgent videotape obtained by ABC News shows nearly a dozen sniper attacks targeting American troops.
“He definitely knows what to do with a rifle,” said Maj. John Plaster, a retired Green Beret sniper instructor and author of “The Ultimate Sniper.” “And he has the judgment and discipline to take a shot, wisely choose an escape route, and immediately depart to avoid capture. This is not a zealot; this is a calculated shooter.”
The video, distributed on the Internet and on DVDs sold in Baghdad, credits a lone gunman who calls himself “Juba the Baghdad Sniper.” He claims to have killed 143 U.S. service members. It is impossible to verify that claim.
Since the U.S. invasion, more than 370 U.S. troops have been killed by gunshot wounds, and more than 1,000 have been injured. But those figures also include ordinary gun battles.
Urban Legend?
The U.S. military said Juba does not exist. They claim he’s an urban legend, perhaps a composite of several snipers.

Namun kelamaan kepala Dewi mulai dipenuhi bayangan mengenai diriku, cerita2ku, tertawa bercanda bersamaku, sms2ku, e-mail2ku. Singkat kata, ia belum yakin ingin pacaran denganku.
Aku jadi teringat Kahlil Gibran.
Menurutku, Kahlil Gibran keliru.
