Sejarah membuktikan bahwa menawarkan technologically superior (pervasive multithreading, protected memory, efficient bandwidth management, database-like FS, multiproc aware, clean APIs), low hardware req, easy to use OS….will get u nowhere unless lo punya huge-big-iron enterprise standard software yang jalan di platform itu…user gak peduli technical bla bla bla tu, yg mereka tau mereka bisa nyelesain kerjaannya dengan cepat tepat dan benar.

Nyaris dua dekade lalu AmigaOS udah terpaksa nelan pil pahit kayak gini, thn 2001 BeOS, sekarang Zeta

Kata orang2 history repeat itself……hard to admit kan? huhh…desktop OS adalah dunia milik smiling folks at redmond (you know that already, rite? more than 95%), yg meski banyak lubang securitynya, gak seelegan BeOS/Zeta dalam menghandle multiproc/core, FS yang seperti zaman batu di banding 64bits BFS….tapi dengan Windows tu kita bisa get things done….what about OSX en Linux…yeah lebih okelah penetrasinya dibanding BeOS/Zeta/Amiga.

Unfortunately vast majority of the population has never tried BeOS/Zeta/AmigaOS, and doesn’t know what they’re missing

Melihat kebelakang bikin kita tertawa sekaligus menangis bahwa Amiga, BeOS/Zeta pernah (technologically speaking) satu dekade lebih maju dari kompetitornya yg menguasai pasar tapi pada akhirnya harus berdarah-darah.

I do hope to see AmigaOS, BeOS/Zeta back in force someday. Miracles happen sometimes

everyone who had chosen to cultivate an elective affinity with BeOS had, for me, a certain special quality by virtue of their ability to *recognize* the unusual beauty of this technology. I discovered that I wanted to count myself among them.
